Ritual and ceremony have the potential to connect, heal and transform. Bespoke ritual and ceremonial objects making can support you and your loved ones engage meaningfully with the process of saying goodbye.
Sometimes the meaningfulness is in the conversations or the silence that comes with making art with others in your family or community. Sometimes the meaningfulness is in the personal wishes or letters we add to the objects.
Ritual and ceremonial objects can be created for:
or to pass on to your loved ones if you are approaching your own dying time.
The process and the objects themselves offer support us to connect with our personal experiences of love and loss.
Beautiful felt wish hearts with personal notes inserted into the soft filling are a great way for children to engage with their own grief process. The hearts can be placed with loved ones during viewings/vigil times or simply tied onto a coffin as part of a funeral ceremony.
Wish hearts can be created by those approaching their own dying time. Words and wishes and ways of saying goodbye can be articulated and sewn into the wish hearts to be worn close to the hearts of those grieving.
Paper lanterns can be created, wishes attached, kept safe, lighting the way during funeral ceremonies. Or bespoke pall covers hand sewn by multiple members of a family.
Perhaps you are creating objects for your own funeral or you are engaging with the Voluntary Assisted Dying process and you have a clear vision for what you want.
Bespoke shrouds make for a powerful process for loved ones, community or just for you- the dying person. The shroud could be hand embroidered, hand dyed, hand painted. It could include images of your ancestors printed onto fabric and sewn together. It could include bits of your families clothes sewn in, to embrace and go with you after you die.
One on one support for folks at end of life who would like to leave a creative offering for their loved ones.
A song, a book of pictures, your poetry, your story, a canvas, a love letter....
